The terminology of returned / undeliverable mail is known as 'GoneAways' where the Royal Mail charge the sender a fee for each undeliverable mailing. In addition to this is the cost of handling and processing the returned mailing to ensure that the database is clean and that repeat mailing is avoided.
In all cases we have witnessed the GoneAways address / reference keyed manually into a database, there is also a task of physically opening the letter to retrieve information in the instance of a defaced envelope.
Our GoneAway Solution will scan and extract the address field from the unopened enveloped automatically from a Barcode printed on the internal document. This Barcode can be in full view through the windowed envelope or in a windowless envelope...it doesn't matter!
