Phil Spotswood Managing Director |
Phil’s career with Cognitronics has spanned over 25 years covering responsibilities in Sales and spending many years as General Manager before taking up the role of Managing Director in April 2006. Phil says:
‘Cognitronics is built upon a sound financial footing where the Company remains master of it's own destiny. The Company owns its factory, offices and several acres of land and has no debt of any kind except normal monthly trade creditors. This means that we are not chasing bad business simply to service company debts or leasing charges.
As we are independent of manufactures and suppliers, we are able to choose the best price/performance products available.
Against this background we can offer our customers market leading, quality products at competitive prices’.

John Bottreill Sales Director |
John was appointed as Sales Director in September 2004 having joined Cognitronics for a second time in March 2000 as Sales Manager. Prior to moving into Sales in 1998 John spent 18 years in mainframe computer operations environments working in Local Authority, Outsource Bureau and Commercial Organisations at the level of Operations Manager. John says:
'I would like to think that this experience has helped me in my sales capacity and has given me a natural empathy with the person on the other side of the table. Having the team that we do at Cognitronics is the biggest asset that any sales person could wish for. Short lines of communication enable us to very quickly establish our ability to meet requirements. Having established this, the knowledge that the team can and will then deliver and provide a quality product and ongoing service is a real confidence booster when placed in a competitive sales situation'.

Dave Brooks Customer Services Director |
Dave has been with Cognitronics almost from day one and has been responsible for running Field Engineering Services and Hardware Support Services for almost 20 years. With the breadth of solution that Cognitronics supply this has been a challenging role with constantly moving targets in terms of technology changes, changes in customer service requirements and the wide and constantly changing geographical areas that need to be covered by Field Engineers. As an example of our commitment to customer support we currently maintain some systems that have been installed for over fifteen years. Even where systems or hardware components are no longer manufactured Cognitronics uses our internal development team to design and produce components to replace those that have become obsolete. In doing this we look to protect and maximize our customers’ investment for as long as possible or until such time as they are ready to embrace newer technology.

Alan Merryweather Software & Development Director |
Alan was appointed as Software Development Director in September 2004 having joined Cognitronics for a second time in January 2000. Prior to 1991 Alan spent a nine year period with Cognitronics running the internal Product Development Team. With current responsibilities for hardware and software development, project management and ensuring that solutions are delivered in a timely manner and to specification, Alan provides a unique blend of in depth experience of both hardware and software concepts with the ability to communicate technical issues in a language that we all understand. In this respect Alan is a great asset to both customers and Cognitronics alike.
